HAND IN HAND PHYSIOTHERAPY
Expert Paediatric Physiotherapy Service

 Moving forward together

Child with down syndrome/ child with disability/ physiotherapy

Hello!

My name is Fiona and I am an Independent Children's Physiotherapist. Thank you for considering Hand in Hand Physiotherapy for your child's needs.

Parenting is not easy and the number of jobs we have on our list can be overwhelming. This can be especially true when our children have additional developmental needs that require attention such as physiotherapy exercises and postural care. It helps to have the professional there, when you need them, to meet your child's unique needs in a way that suits your family.

I can support  your child to meet their greatest physical potential, hopefully with lots of fun along the way. I will champion them with you, so that you are not alone in the journey towards your family goals.

I am here to help with physiotherapy support in the way that you need and want.

Who am I?

Fiona Priestland BSc, MHCPC, MCSP, MAPCP
Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist
Paediatric Physiotherapist

I am a highly skilled Children's Physiotherapist with 17 years of experience in the NHS. I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2007 and have gathered a breadth of paediatric physiotherapy experience working in different NHS trusts.

I have had a focus on children with neurological problems and developmental needs such as Cerebral Palsy and Brain Injury, Downs Syndrome, Developmental delay and much more. I use my detailed understanding of movement and neuroplasticity, in conjunction with a variety of techniques, to support children and young people to meet and maintain their goals. I am skilled in methods such as the Bobath approach, postural management, functional strength training and gait re-education.

I love getting to know the children and families I work with. I will always listen to what clients hope to achieve for their children, and what matters most to them. I work tirelessly to support children towards attainable goals that will help them realise their potential.

My Values

Care for the family

It is always my aim, as far as I am able, to support your child in a way that fits in with you and your context. If it helps to get siblings involved, or the family dog, then that's great, I see it as all part of the rich tapestry of what I do.

Clinical Excellence

I am constantly looking to grow and learn in my practise. I stay up to date with evidence base and literature. I attend training courses to learn from others in the field. I use this alongside my years of experience to find the best approach for your child. I recognise that every child is an individual and sometimes creative approaches are needed for your child's unique needs.

Integrity

I will be open and honest about the best approach for your child and where I am able or  not able to help. I will give you honest opinions about your child's potential and  unbiased options for treatment with the implications of these choices.
